Melissa began her legal career defending personal injury claims for major insurance carriers. After six years in that role, she transitioned to representing injured individuals, giving her unique insight into how insurance companies evaluate and handle claims. With eight years of total experience, she now uses that insider knowledge to anticipate defense tactics and build strong cases for her clients. Her commitment to excellence has earned her recognition as a Rising Star with Virginia Super Lawyers in both 2024 and 2025.
Northern Virginia Native
Melissa Ryan was born and raised in Springfield, Virginia and continues to call Fairfax home, where she lives with her husband. A graduate of Annandale High School, she went on to earn her B.S. in Criminology, Law and Society with a minor in Sociology from George Mason University, graduating summa cum laude. At Mason, she was named Outstanding Undergraduate Student and was inducted into the Golden Key International Honour Society.
She earned her J.D. from William & Mary Law School in 2016, where she gained valuable experience as a Summer Law Clerk to the Hon. Constance H. Frogale (Ret.) of the Alexandria Juvenile and Domestic Relations District Court. During law school, she also co-authored a published academic article on inequality in higher education.
Beyond the Courtroom
When she’s not advocating for her clients, Melissa enjoys putting together jigsaw puzzles, playing board games, listening to true crime podcasts, and baking gluten-free treats.
